Tina is a volunteer for TaxAid, the charity that helps vulnerable individuals on a low income with their tax affairs. She acts as a liaison with HMRC, particularly on recent tax developments and digital matters. She is helping the charity look forward as tax evolves, particularly in digitalisation.
Tina also assists Bridge the Gap, the fundraising part of TaxAid and its sister charity Tax Help for Older People in its growing fundraising requirements. In particular she has arranged for a team of tax professionals and friends to walk to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in September 2020. Before her retirement from practice, Tina was the national tax partner at Smith & Williamson LLP (part of the Nexia worldwide association), where her team had responsibility for tax quality control, media work, policy, training and technology developments.
Previously, Tina was technical director at the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT). She has been a member of various HMRC consultative committees. Tina is currently the chair of the CIOT’s Diversity working group, its Digital Agent Services Committee and is a member of its Technical Policy and Oversight Committee.
