AccountingWEB Editor at large, John Stokdyk, talks to us about his top picks for attending AccountingWEB Live Expo on 1-2 December at Coventry Building Society Arena....

"After so long in the virtual wilderness, it’ll be great to catch up with old friends in real life and hear how you’ve been getting on. If you’re there on Day 1, make sure to come to the Official After-Show Party in the Accounting Excellence Theatre to say ‘hi’.

I also wanted to alert you to some of the highlights I’m looking forward to.

There have been a lot of rumours and hints this year about what the tax software developers have up their sleeves to manage the increased workloads around MTD. Almost all of the main players will be at the Expo, giving us all a good opportunity to hear - and hopefully see - firsthand what they’ve got planned.

If you haven’t got time to talk to them all yourself, I’m going to be hosting a discussion on choosing the right MTD software with HMRC’s Richard Fowler and other guests at 1pm in Tech Workshop 2 on Wednesday 1 December.

I’m also thrilled to present the opening keynote session with AccountingWEB’s new head of insight, Julian Green, to present the findings of a detailed survey of accounting software use. The pandemic accelerated a lot of technology trends, so if you want to find out how it’s affected cashflow forecasting apps, practice management tools and payroll - this is your chance! Attend this session and you’ll receive a full copy of the Insight report after the event.

There’s so much more for tech enthusiasts to see and hear, including workshops and with practice pioneers Nikki Nigel AdamsAynsley DamerySharon Pocock and Chris Downing.

I’m looking forward to seeing them all and hope you can join me."
